Aperitif

This book is half aperitif cocktails and half aperitif snacks. I’ve enjoyed the drinks and snack I’ve made in this book very much, but haven’t made a ton of either. The drinks tend to call for more niche ingredients and it’s not often I make snacks.

AM/PM Sherry

Mai

La Premiere

The Monaco

Kir Moderne

Lowbrow-Brilliant Mimosa

Rose Sour

Vermouth Olive

Old Gal

1.5 oz. rye

1 oz. blanc vermouth

1 oz. Campari

Orange twist

Directions: Combine liquids over ice and stir until chilled. Express an orange twist over the drink and drop into the glass.

Backlog. Pretty close to the old pal, such that without a side-by-side comparison I’m not sure I’d notice a difference.

Negroni

1 oz. London dry gin

1 oz. sweet vermouth

1 oz. Campari

Orange twist

Directions: Combine ingredients except the orange twist and stir over ice until chilled. Express orange twist over the drink and drop into the glass.

Backlog. Easily a top 5 cocktail for me, might be my favorite. It helps that I’m basically braindead and this recipe is too simple to forget.

Fair Harvard

2 oz. Pisco

1 oz. bianco vermouth

3 dashes orange bitters

Lemon twist

Directions: Combine all the ingredients except the lemon twist in a mixing glass over ice and stir until chilled. Express lemon twist over the drink and drop into the glass.

Backlog. No recollection of specifics here but Pisco and vermouth are good.

Bobby Burns

1 oz. blended Scotch

0.75 oz. sweet vermouth

0.5 oz. Benedictine

Lemon twist

Directions: Stir ingredients over ice, strain into a chilled coupe, express a lemon twist over the drink and drop into the glass.

Backlog. I should try this again, I remember it being good but would like to remind myself of its flavor.
